Homemade vanilla ice cream
This ice cream is dead simple. Stir everything together in a saucepan, simmer, stir, cool, and freeze; Less than 10 minutes from the actual preparation time. If you put the mixture together in the morning, refrigerate it, and then mix it up in the afternoon, we easily take the mixture in the same evening.
However, if you are in a hurry, you can simply chill everything together and pour it into the machine. I can’t deny that simmering it long enough to dissolve the sugar and then cooling it again makes it even better. Honestly, though, I am impatient about half the time, so I skip the step on low heat frequently. This is great ice cream however you make it.

Homemade ice cream recipe
- Pour a glass of cream into a saucepan, add sugar and salt. Scrape the vanilla seeds into the saucepan, then add the vanilla to the bowl.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and add the rest of the cream, milk, and vanilla. Stir until combined and cool in the refrigerator.
- When you’re ready to shake, remove the bag of vanilla, whisk the mixture again, and pour it into the ice cream maker. Mix according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Transfer ready-made ice cream to an airtight container and place in the freezer until ready to serve.
Feel free to skip the boiling step and whisk everything together, then pour directly into the ice cream maker. Ice cream is absolutely delicious this way, as well as when it is cooked and cooled first.
